THE PROCESS EXPLAINED
Debt Counselling is a responsible way of getting financially ‘rehabilitated.’ Your Clientèle Legal lawyer will help you appoint a Debt Counsellor in your area. Your income and expenses will be assessed and a new budget will be agreed upon.
The Debt Counsellor will contact all your creditors and negotiate a repayment plan on your behalf. A Magistrate’s Court will confirm the repayment plan. You will then make a single payment every month, which will be distributed amongst your creditors. Once your debt has been cleared, the Debt Counsellor may issue a clearance certificate that shows you have been rehabilitated.
For more information or a list of Debt Counsellors, click here to visit the National Credit Regulator’s website.
Did you know that Clientèle Legal assists in approximately 21 000 client interactions per month and only utilise professional lawyers and service agents.
